Gilded Age stars unveil surprise holiday album with Broadway legends

The cast of HBO's drama series *The Gilded Age* — all with strong Broadway credentials — has teamed up to record a holiday collection that will debut on Friday, November 6. The release will be available in digital format, on CD and on vinyl.
The project, titled *Voices Of The Gilded Age: The Christmas Album*, was produced by songwriter and producer Desmond Child.
It includes two brand‑new original tracks written by Child — “The World Needs Some Christmas” and “It’s Been Real.” In addition to the originals, the album features a selection of classic holiday songs performed by the series’ ensemble.
Concord Theatricals Recordings unveiled the first single from the collection today: “The World Needs Some Christmas,” written by Child and performed by Ben Ahlers, best known for his work in *Death of a Salesman*.
In an interview with the label, Child said, “I’ve been waiting my whole life to make this record,” and added, “and I’m still in awe that I was able to bring it to life alongside some of Broadway’s most extraordinary voices.
Together we’ve created a loving tribute to our favorite Christmas songs, legendary artists, lyricists, composers, and arrangers whose timeless music has warmed our hearts and filled our lives with joy.”
## Background & Context
The album brings together a roster of Broadway luminaries who also star in *The Gilded Age*.
Among the performers are Ben Ahlers, Christine Baranski, Laura Benanti, Denée Benton, Carrie Coon, Jordan Donica, Celia Keenan‑Bolger, Audra McDonald, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Donna Murphy, Kelli O’Hara, Taylor Richardson, Morgan Spector, Taylor Trensch and Adrienne Warren.
Each artist brings a distinct theatrical voice to the holiday repertoire.
Child’s involvement as both songwriter and producer ties the collection to a long tradition of Broadway music production. The original tracks were crafted to complement classic Christmas standards, offering fresh interpretations while honoring the genre’s heritage.
The inclusion of “It’s Been Real,” alongside “The World Needs Some Christmas,” provides listeners with two brand‑new pieces that echo the series’ themes of ambition and generosity.
## What Happens Next
The full album will be released across multiple formats on Friday, November 6. Digital downloads and streaming will be available immediately, while physical copies arrive in stores shortly thereafter. The release schedule is timed to precede the series’ Season 4 premiere on HBO and HBO Max, which begins Sunday, November 1.
Fans of the show can anticipate a holiday soundtrack that echoes the opulence of the era depicted on screen. The collection’s availability in CD and vinyl formats caters to collectors and audiophiles alike, while digital distribution ensures easy access for casual listeners.
The alignment of the album launch with the new season suggests a coordinated effort to enhance audience engagement during the holiday period.
With its blend of familiar Christmas classics and original compositions, *Voices Of The Gilded Age: The Christmas Album* offers a festive listening experience that celebrates both Broadway tradition and contemporary storytelling.
